A Study on College Students’ Offence and Social Control at the Transformation Period of Our Nation

Since the reform and opening-up, our country has experienced faster, deeper, and broader transformation in society. Social transformation optimizes Social structure, boosts up Social vigor, and accelerates social development, but owing to the duality of the social structure and the incongruity of social change, there has occurred a decline in social control in different ways and a large number of social problems, one of which is the offence committed by college students. In recent years, scholars have been doing research more on juvenile delinquency than on college students’ offence, either in theory or in practice. Viewing from the sociological angle, and applying theories and methodology, especially the methodology of using authentic proofs, from sociology, criminology, social psychology, and administration science, this thesis has analyzed the characteristics of China’s social transformation and its influence on the growing-up of college students, studied the present situation, characteristics and causes of college students’ offence, and explored effective measures in social control. So long as we stick to treating people as the top, carrying out all-sided scientific development strategy, and strengthening social control, college students’ offence will be checked effectively.
